I've always been more of a programmer / editor who could take assets created by others and convert them into games and videos, that being said, one of the many things that I've always regretted in life is never having artistic ability, which is why I've never posted an animation to Newgrounds. Just the game that I made nearly 10 years ago.
After beginning to read the "The Animator's Survival Kit", a passage made it very clear that I needed to learn how to draw. So, I immediately bought a couple of courses from Udemy and began to start drawing. With only experiencing nightmare art teachers in High School who used me as the example of "What not to do" (in fairness, I was a world class f*** up in high school), it was extremely comforting to hear, "Drawing is a learnable skill".
While I don't think I'll be gracing the Art Portal anytime soon... I think I'm at least producing some refrigerator quality drawings. Curious to see how I'll progress throughout the learning process.
Any tips / advice for a beginner trying to get decent at drawing?
